Google Has Changed Your Search Engine Rankings

Google has made changes to its advertising structured within Google AdWords for desktop search results on both Google and Google search partners:

  1. No text ads in Google AdWords will be shown on the right rail of the search results on desktop.
  2. Google will show four text ads instead of three in the mainline area above the organic search engine listings.
  3. Three text ads will show at the bottom of a search engine results page.
  4. The total number of text ads that can appear on a search engine results page will shrink from as many as 11 to a maximum of seven.

For organizations that currently use Google AdWords as a method for gaining greater exposure, here are some things to consider:

  1. Will an overall reduction in the amount of advertisements shown result in a higher Cost-Per-Click due to increased demand?
  2. If my high converting keywords cost more will our campaign budget have to then increase in order to achieve the same amount of conversions?
  3. Will Google expand its Search Partner Network in order to offer more overall ad placements and alleviate increase costs for advertisers?
